#DINEWITHME: PINCE & PINTS RESTAURANT AND BAR | BANGSAR (KL)

The definitive lobster dining experience is now in Kuala Lumpur

Taking the quintessential lobster bar at Duxton now to BangsarPINCE & PINTS RESTAURANT AND BAR  first opened its door in Singapore on 7th July 2014 by the founder whom followed his palate and belly, after enjoying delicious and affordably priced quality lobsters around the world, Frederick Yap.

PINCE & PINTS KL is now officially opened to their 55-seater restaurant, presenting incomparable affordable prices for fresh, quality lobsters in the bustling foodie precinct of Jalan Telawi 5, Bangsar (next to RIL'S). Thanks to PINCE & PINTS KL, I managed to be the first to try out before the restaurant open its door to public on 9th October 2015.

The lobster house serves classic & contemporary lobster dishes, reminiscent of New England's cuisine. Inspired by the rustic charm of lobster houses in New England mixed with the polished sophistication of city life, PINCE & PINTS KL are set in sleek setting for affordable lobster feasting. Caters indoor and outdoor, the restaurant portrayed an industrial appeal with an elegant mix of marble, walnut timber finish, copper detailing and bronze mirrors. Adding a refined statement to the restaurant's interior is a discernible lobster-inspired artwork commissioned by one of Malaysia's most celebrated artist, Ahmad Zakii Anwar.

Getting ready for the Lobster war.. hehehe..

The restaurant is devoted to the wild-caught lobsters, air-flown in direct from Boston, Maine and Canada twice weekly to PINCE & PINTS' own holding warehouse in Malaysia, skillfully handled, and stored in state-of-the-art-deep sea tanks. Lobsters are retained at top notch condition to ensure the customers enjoy their lobster at its best - fresh, juicy and meaty. The temperature of the water must be kept at a constant of 5 to 7°C. All lobsters are not allowed to stay more than 7 days - Like a short getaway!

Serving only 5 (five) types of lobster dishes from the menu, all five will definitely entice your lobster dining experience in the most appetizing ways. Featuring the superstar on the menu The Lobster Roll, Lobster Noodles, Live Whole Lobster (Grilled or Steamed) and Chili Lobster with MantouAll lobster dishes are priced at RM 158++ and each dish uses one whole live wild-caught lobster of approximately 600gm.

THE LOBSTER ROLL
A signature at PINCE & PINTS KL.

Steamed, then marinated with mayonnaise and salt. The iconic "top split" homemade bun is generously spread with butter before pan-frying, which makes the roll light and crispy with an aromatic richness. Stuffed with hearty chunks of the natural sweetness of meat (using a whole lobster and the claw) and coated with chopped chives, the dish is then served with a side of straight cut fries with skin and salad with the restaurant's own house dressing of sour cherry balsamic vinaigrette.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: The Lobster Roll
Chef's Salad, Straight Cut Fries, Garlic Aioli

I loveeeeeeee the Lobster roll! One of the most delicious sandwich I've ever tasted. The bun is extremely soft and buttery with a little crisp on the sides. Squeezed on the bun are fresh and juicy whole lobster meat chopped into big chunks. Eating the roll on its own was already satisfying, but adding the sauce makes the roll tasted even better. I have to admit it's one extremely luxury sandwich.

Spoil-brat? Yes, I am.

Lychee Martini No. 32 & Lobster Roll

LIVE WHOLE LOBSTER
(Grilled or Steamed)

The grilled version comes with mesclun salad tossed in sour cherry and balsamic vinaigrette, herbed butter and straight cut fries with skin. And for the steamed version, the live lobster is steamed in salted water and olive oil (a classic New England technique) to enhance the natural taste of the sea; perfect option for those who wants to "eat clean".

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: Live Whole Lobster
(Grilled or Steamed)
Chef's Salad, Straight Cut Fries, Herbed Butter Sauce

If you like to enjoy the lobster in the most original way, go for the steamed version. But I preferred a little charred taste on my lobster meat, so I went for the grilled version. Just like a small girl getting her first barbie doll, I can't be more excited to dive into the plate and fork the meat out. The claw are so huge, it's almost half the size of my face! Gosh..

The lobster was grilled perfectly, adding a hint of smokiness to the sweet lobster meat. I can't stop dipping my lobster meat into the creamy & buttery sauce.

One "Happy Meal"
Bed of Roses & Live Whole Lobster (Grilled)

Watch out for HUGE CLAWS!

CHILI LOBSTER
The flagship restaurant in Singapore inspired the sensational Chili Lobster with Mantou, which has been a hit with locals and tourists alike. With slightly more tart and sweeter than the chili sauce used for crabs, roma tomatoes, ginger, lemon grass, garlic, and egg are added to the chili sauce (a special house blend). The sauce delivers its singular, delicious punch with mantou (fried buns) - perfect to soak up every drop of the mouth-watering gravy.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: Chili Lobster with Mantou
Fried Mantou, Homemade Fresh Tomato & Chili Sauce

For a more saucy version, the Chili Lobster with Mantou is your best pick. The sauce is so delicious that you can't stop licking onto your fingers. Do order extra mantou. I can assured you that five mini mantou ain't enough - trust me! The mantou makes a perfect sponge to soak up all the goodness from the bowl. A little messy to enjoy, but this is one dish you won't mind getting your hands dirty with.

Deep fried Mini Mantou - super soft!

LOBSTER NOODLES
Unique and exclusive to the outlet in Kuala Lumpur.
Large chunks of shell-on lobster stir fried with scallions and ginger in a lightly seasoned sauce atop freshly made egg noodles. Served with chili oil.

Stir fried Yee Mee with the whole lobster?

This is the upgraded version of Yee Mee that you normally had in the restaurant. For your information, this dish is only available for Kuala Lumpur's outlet and not in Singapore's PINCE & PINTS. The Yee Mee are very flavorful. It soaked up all of the lobster goodness and every bite are so rich in taste.

To further excite and tantalize the taste buds during your dining experience, PINCE & PINTS KL took on a different approach with their cocktail menu curated according to accent flavors - Sweet, Sour, Bitter or Dry. Either to start your meal with a perfect cocktail or to relish after satisfying your lobster cravings with a dessert-like concoction, PINCE & PINTS offers best of both.

Using only fine quality spirits and homemade syrups, the cocktails that I would like to recommend to try include Lychee Martini 32, Dante's Dream, Bed of Roses, Maple Pisco Sour, Mariachi Sidewalk and 500 Days of Summer. You won't go wrong with them. These cocktails are so good!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: Lychee Martini No. 32 (RM 54)
(Rum, Alsatian Gewurztraminer, Lychee Purée & Liquer, Sugar)

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: Dante's Dream (RM 52)
(Cucumber Gin, St. Germain, Fresh Lime & Mint, Cucumber Syrup)

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: Maple Pisco Sour (RM 44)
(Pisco, Fresh Lemon, Maple Syrup, Sea Salt, Bitters)

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: Bed of roses (RM 45)
(Rose liqueur, Vodka, Fresh Lime & Lemon, Lychee juice, Sugar)

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: Mariachi Sidewalk (RM 36)
(Tequila, Fresh Watermelon, Agave Nectar, Elderflower syrup)

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: 500 Days of Summer (RM 50)
(Gin, Fresh Lemon, Lime & Mint, Homemade Melon Soda)

Besides than cocktails, the restaurant also offers a selection of artisanal brews sourced from niche breweries in the United States, New Zealand, Japan, Scotland and Jamaica. For those who prefer to eat their lobster dish with a beer in hand, PINCE & PINTS KL offers selections that are quite unique to choose from.  Not only that, an array of boutique wines from all over the world, working with family-operated vineyards that proudly produce organic wines are also available at PINCE & PINTS KL.

Promising to be crowd pleasers with a an original twist for non-alcoholic drinks, look out for Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Fresh kiwi & Lime, Pandan syrup, Apple & Guava Juice), Freddie Mercury (Cloudy Apple & Fresh Orange juice, Ginger Gastrique) and Sarikei Sour (Pineapple gum, Fresh lemon, Honey pineapple) as part of the delicious line-up for mocktails.

I almost had a "lobster dream" on the same night. It was one extremely good dining experience at PINCE & PINTS KL. The lobster meals are marvelous, ambiance is very warm & cozy and the service provided was top notch. Once again, thank you PINCE & PINTS KL for the wonderful lobster experience. I'll be back for more awesome lobster meals.

#DINEWITHME: THE PENTHOUSE RESTAURANT & WINE BAR | SS15, SUBANG JAYA (KL)

Whooppsss...I just had my dinner!  What am I doing here? Come on, it's Friday! Let's chill a 'lil - Dinner extended. To be frank, I don't have much time to spend around ever since I've joined an award-winning agency few months ago. Life's pretty hectic everyday, with extreme workload and countless days of overtime.  And just because I have relocated myself to another area, my hangout place changes too. What makes the best option would be the one nearest to my office, with less traffic congestion.  Thanks to my bunch of friends whom always put me on a priority, they make the effort to come to a meeting point near me instead.  I was brought to this restaurant the other day by my friends and I found it quite a waste not to share such an interesting place with all of you.  Let me introduce you to -  THE PENTHOUSE RESTAURANT & WINE BAR. Upon walking in, I was amazed by their simple yet welcoming ambiance. I was ushered in by rows of wine displ...

#DINEWITHME: YUK SOU HIN | WEIL HOTEL (IPOH)

Done with my busy schedules, I finally have the time to sit down and blog about my dining experience at YUK SOU HIN @ WEIL HOTEL (IPOH) which took place about two months ago.  I was being invited by the hotel's PR Team at the first place to drop by and review the dim sum which was spearheaded by their   Hong Kong Master Chef, Mr. Chung Ho Shi but unfortunately I'm unable to attend. Later after that, I visited the restaurant with my mum when I dropped by in Ipoh the other day.  It was a busy morning. We went to the restaurant around 11am without any advance reservation, and it took us about 25 minutes to settle down with a table.  The restaurant was packed with customers that day, due to Public Holiday.  Not my first dining experience at Weil Hotel,  YUK SOU HIN  is the final restaurant to wrap up my adventure at this new hotel besides than  THE DECK  and  TIFFIN .  Bored while waiting, I started to explore around and tappin...
